Kindred Hospital uses an interdisciplinary team approach to care that helps our patients return to the highest quality of life possible. In addition to our core services, we offer:
Kindred Hospital Mansfield provides outpatient services to the community. Available services include:
When illness or surgery adversely affects a patient’s stomach or digestive system, we administer medication and nutrition through a PICC (peripherally inserted central catheter) or a PEG (percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy) until the patient recovers.
Skilled and certified technicians operate our imaging equipment, and we make every effort to perform the testing in as prompt and as convenient a manner as possible.
For your convenience, our hospital accepts direct admissions from an extended care facility or skilled nursing center.
Occupational medicine is devoted to prevention and management of occupational and environmental injury, illness and disability.
Palliative care is designed for patients with active, advanced disease and a short life expectancy. The focus of care is to prevent or relieve symptoms and to do everything possible to improve the patient’s quality of life.
Your medical care is the chief responsibility of your physician. As a member of the medical staff, your physician makes the necessary arrangements for laboratory services, X-rays, medications, special diets and any other treatment service. We are proud of our excellent physician and allied health staff who deliver specialized medical care to patients with illnesses caused by lung, kidney, heart and/or gastrointestinal diseases, as well as problems associated with blood and immune system disorders and infectious disease.
Nursing care is implemented through a modified team approach and is patient/family focused. Medical/surgical nursing and intensive care nursing are provided. The team concept consists of integrated care via nursing, respiratory, rehabilitation services, and ancillary services to provide a holistic approach. We strive to provide quality care to our patients.
The purpose of our Cardiopulmonary and Respiratory Care Department is to provide treatment to patients who may benefit from diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and services offered, including ventilator weaning. All services are provided in accordance with a physician’s order. The department is also overseen by a physician director. The Cardiopulmonary and Respiratory Care Department provides staff coverage in-house 24 hours per day, seven days a week. All respiratory therapy services are provided by licensed, certified technicians and registered therapists (RCPs, CRTTs and RRTs). Additional staff is provided according to the patient census and acuity. Therapists attend and participate with the interdisciplinary patient care planning conference. The department will either directly provide or requisition the appropriate service to provide the therapeutic and diagnostic services to the patients.
Diagnostic and interventional radiology procedures as well as ultrasound and nuclear imaging are provided by qualified ARRTs/ARTs on site or through cooperative agreements with nearby facilities featuring state of the art technology and equipment.
Surgical Services provides care for inpatients and outpatients undergoing operative or invasive procedures. Surgical Services provided to adult/geriatric patients includes traditional surgical procedures, but many of our surgeons also perform less invasive procedures using the laparoscopic approach, which reduces pain and speeds recovery.
Our CAP-accredited laboratory provides the staff and necessary equipment for the diagnostic testing of blood, body fluids and tissues. Services are available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Pro-Path Laboratories provides anatomical pathology services for the examination, diagnosis and description of all human tissue and cytology specimens submitted through the laboratory. Physician-ordered autopsies are also performed in accordance with policy and procedure through the Pro-Path Pathology Group. Pro-Path Laboratories are operated under the direction of a physician trained in anatomical and clinical pathology.
Registered Pharmacists and certified technicians provide individualized pharmaceutical care and services based on the physician’s plan of care and the patient’s unique needs. In addition to traditional pharmacy services, specialized programs provide for:
Our Nutritional Services Department prepares nutritious, appealing meals and provides appropriate nutrition support to our patients. Clinical dietitians also perform periodic nutritional assessments and monitor patients’ nutritional plans.
The Case Management Department provides crisis intervention, situational counseling, discharge planning, and referral to appropriate community agencies. The social workers work closely with the interdisciplinary team to develop a holistic plan of care for the patient. The plan is implemented by the team in coordination with the patient’s family in order to determine the optimum discharge environment, which may be home, assisted living, or a skilled nursing facility.
Emergency Services provides for the assessment of patients presenting for emergency care. A physician is on-site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide care and treatment, as appropriate.
The Case Management Department and each nursing unit has a list of spiritual services for the patient family. A patient/family minister is also welcomed to visit at any time.
Hospice services assist our patients and families in dealing with the very difficult care and decisions required during end of life. Kindred Mansfield works in coordination with several hospice organizations to ensure our patients and families receive the support and dignity that is deserved.
